Rio de Janeiro Event Venues
Rooftop pools above the beach, palace dining rooms, hillside terraces and landmark museums — the Rio venues we open a shortlist with.

Rio de Janeiro runs on rhythm. Samba spilling out of Lapa, the bossa nova that was born in Ipanema, a crowd that applauds the sunset from the rocks at Arpoador — this is a city where every gathering turns into a celebration, and where guests arrive ready for one. The setting does half the work: rooftop pools above the beach, palace dining rooms, garden terraces on the hills and landmark museums on the bay. This guide explores the top venues in Rio, categorised by their unique atmospheres and capabilities.
Hotel Rooftops & Pool Terraces
The format Rio does better than anywhere: a pool deck above the beach or the city, timed to the sunset. Guests arrive for the view and stay for the night.

Copacabana Palace
The landmark of Avenida Atlântica since 1923, run by Belmond. The pool terrace is the setting guests photograph; the Golden Room takes a seated gala for up to 500, and the full event floor reaches 1,790 across its rooms. The most recognisable address in Rio for a reception that needs to feel like an occasion.

Hotel Fasano Rio de Janeiro
Philippe Starck’s hotel on the Ipanema seafront. The rooftop pool looks straight down the beach to the Dois Irmãos mountains, with the Baretto-Londra bar and Gero restaurant downstairs for the rest of the evening. Built for a sunset cocktail hour of up to 100.

Emiliano Rio
A sculptural white façade on Avenida Atlântica and a rooftop lap pool running the length of Copacabana beach. Private events take up to 200; the rooftop is the reason to book it.

Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana
At the Posto 6 end of Copacabana, with a rooftop pool framed by Sugarloaf Mountain. The ballroom takes 600 for a reception or 410 at round tables — the scale for a conference-week party that still wants a view.

Santa Teresa Hotel RJ · MGallery
A former coffee plantation on the Santa Teresa hill, with a pool deck looking over the city to the bay. Térèze and the Bar dos Descasados sit on the same estate. Events for up to 100, and a setting that feels a world away from the city below.
Restaurant Buyouts
For the closed dinner — partners, speakers, a board. Rio’s finest dining rooms, taken privately, with the menu built around the brief.

Cipriani
The Italian dining room of the Copacabana Palace, with tall windows over the hotel pool. A private dinner here borrows the whole palace as its backdrop.

Mee
The Copacabana Palace’s pan-Asian room — red lacquer walls, curtained alcoves and a bar for the first drink. Made for a closed partner dinner where the room should feel private from the moment guests arrive.

Ocyá
Leblon’s seafood room, with dry-aged fish hanging behind glass as the centrepiece of the dining room. A long oval table in front of the open kitchen suits a hosted dinner that wants a talking point.

Oteque
A tasting-menu restaurant in a restored Botafogo house: pitched timber ceiling, original stone walls, the kitchen in full view at the end of the room. The choice when the dinner itself is the event.
Garden & Hillside Terraces
Rio’s other register: tree canopy, hillside views and a slower evening. These are the venues for a relaxed networking night where guests should stay long after the first drink.

Casa Camolese
Restaurant, cocktail bar, brewery and live-music room in one house beside the Jockey Club, with a garden lounge under the trees. Its main hall seats 100 or takes 200 standing. Blockchain Rio Week held its C-level evening here in 2026.

Aprazível
Terraces built into the Santa Teresa hillside, looking over the city as the lights come on. Brazilian cooking, a long-running local favourite, and the sunset view guests who have never been to Rio remember.

Térèze
The French restaurant of the Santa Teresa Hotel, lit low in the evening with the garden and the city through the windows. An elegant room for a seated dinner after a sunset drink on the pool deck.
Museums & Landmark Architecture
For the reception that needs a building to match the guest list. Both sit on Praça Mauá in the regenerated port, ten minutes from Centro and a natural home for side events around the conference weeks.

Museu do Amanhã
Santiago Calatrava’s museum on the edge of Guanabara Bay, with a corporate events programme of its own. The auditorium seats 374, and the atrium and the arches outside open up for receptions. It hosted Blockchain Rio Week’s forum in 2026.

Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR)
Two buildings on Praça Mauá joined by a wave-shaped rooftop canopy, with views across the port. The rooftop Mirante takes 200; the open ground floor beneath the building takes up to 980.
