St Julian’s Event Venues
Harbour rooftops, palazzo ballrooms, Valletta dining rooms, beach clubs and the Knights’ own halls — where a Malta venue shortlist starts.

Malta packs four centuries into an island you can cross in an hour. The Knights of St John left fortresses, palazzos and a baroque capital on the Grand Harbour; today the same stone holds rooftop bars, Michelin-starred kitchens and pool clubs over the bays. Guests can land at lunch and dine on a bastion by sunset. Below, Malta’s strongest event venues, grouped by the kind of evening each one hosts best.
Hotel Rooftops & Terraces
Valletta is built on a ridge between two harbours, so a hotel roof here looks over domes, bastions and open sea at once. The cocktail hour carries the view.

The Rooftop at The Embassy
A pool and bar on the roof of The Embassy, in the middle of Valletta, with the city’s skyline on every side. Right for a sunset reception that moves to dinner downstairs.

Over Grain at Rosselli
The rooftop lounge of Rosselli, a converted Valletta palazzo. Low sofas, olive trees and a line of church domes running down to the sea. Built for an intimate drinks hour.
Restaurant Buyouts
For the closed dinner with partners, speakers or the board. Malta’s best dining rooms sit in Valletta and along the St Julian’s and Sliema shore, and each can be taken privately.

ION Harbour
Simon Rogan’s restaurant on the fourth floor of Iniala Harbour House, facing the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. Seasonal Maltese produce, a tasting menu, and the harbour at sunset.

Noni
A Valletta dining room cooking Maltese tradition in a modern way. Taken privately, it suits a partner dinner where the menu should feel rooted in the island.

Fernandõ Gastrotheque
A Sliema dining room a short drive from St Julian’s, for a closed dinner where the kitchen is the reason to come.

Rosami at The Villa
On the water at Balluta Bay, the closest table on this page to the St Julian’s hotel quarter. Right for a dinner that guests should be able to walk to.
Hotels & Ballrooms
When the name on the invitation should do the work. Palazzos, bastion hotels and baroque gardens, each with rooms that open for a private night.

The Phoenicia Malta
The grand hotel just outside Valletta’s city gate, set in its own gardens above the harbour. Ballroom, terraces and a glass-roofed restaurant facing the bastions.

The Xara Palace
A 17th-century palazzo built into the bastions of Mdina, Malta’s walled old capital. The de Mondion restaurant sits on the walls, with a view across the island to the sea.

Cugó Gran Macina
A Design Hotels property inside the Sheer Bastion of 1554, on the Grand Harbour. Its rooftop takes up to 300 seated or 800 standing, looking across the marina to Valletta.

Palazzo Parisio
A private palazzo in Naxxar with a gilded baroque ballroom and formal gardens. Drinks in the garden, dinner in the ballroom, all inside one set of walls.
Beach & Pool Clubs
Malta’s days run outdoors. A beach or pool club carries a team afternoon or a founders’ day from the water into sunset without changing venue.

MedAsia Golden Sands
On the sand at Golden Bay, one of Malta’s few long sandy beaches. Cabanas, sushi and cocktails, facing west for the sunset.

Infinity by Hugo’s
An infinity pool on the roof of Hotel Hugo’s in St Julian’s, with a DJ and views over the bays. A pool day that turns into a sunset party.
Landmark Buildings
For the forum, gala or reception that needs a building to match the guest list. The Knights of St John left Malta a set of halls, forts and theatres that open for private events.

Mediterranean Conference Centre
The Knights’ Sacra Infermeria of 1574, now a conference centre on the Grand Harbour. Its auditorium seats 1,400, and the long ward of La Valette hall takes a banquet.

Villa Bighi
A neoclassical villa on the Kalkara headland, facing Valletta across the harbour mouth. The esplanade and garden take a reception with the city lit up opposite.

Fort St Angelo
The Knights’ headquarters at the tip of Birgu, with superyachts moored below. Its D’Homedes Bastions open for private events, with Valletta across the water.

Teatru Manoel
Built in 1731 by Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena and still in use. Gilded tiers of boxes, 623 seats and its own acoustics, for a keynote or an awards night.
